Arsenal Boss To Make Shock Swoop For German International?
Just don’t stop coming from the Daily Mail, who are now telling The Transfer Tavern that Stuttgart midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger has been “linked with a £5million” switch to Arsenal.
The paper claims that Gunners manager Arsene Wenger “is poised” to make a “surprise £5million move” for former Aston Villa player Hitzlsperger, with the Frenchman looking to “add experience” to the midfield at the Emirates Stadium.
The German International is said to not have “set the Premier League alight” during Hitzlsperger’s four-year spell at the Villans, but Wenger “is seeking” to bolster his midfield at the Premiership side and the 27-year-old German “fits the mould”.
It claimed that Hitzlsperger, who is out of contract at the Mercedes-Benz Arena next summer is “believed” to already be the subject of “talks” between Arsenal and the Bundesliga side regarding a £5million transfer to the North London outfit for the midfielder.
So what sort of liquid refreshment and just how many prompted the Daily Mail to give this one page space? Is Wenger really poised to make a £5million bid for Hitzlsperger? Should this rumour Fly or Die?
