Sergio SanchezAnother one in from the Daily Mail to The Transfer Tavern, who tell us that Manchester City “have been linked” with a swoop for Sergio Sanchez at La Liga side Espanyol.

The paper saying that Citizens boss Mark Hughes “has contacted” the Periquitos and “expects to complete a transfer” to bring 23-year-old Sanchez to the Premier League club in the “next few days”, according to Spanish paper El Mundo Deportivo.

The Spanish Under-21 International claimed to have a “release-clause” of around “£1.5million”, but “could be available for nearer to £3.5million” as Hughes continues to add to his squad at the Eastlands Stadium.

Sanchez is also claimed to be wanted by Spanish rivals Sevila and Valencia, with the defender said to “have spoken of his desire” to join the Sevillistas. However, it is thought that the approach from the Premiership side is “likely to change things”, despite the prospect of Champions League football at Sevilla.

So what was the liquid sauce behind the source of this one? Are City really set to land the Espanyol fullback? Should this rumour Fly or Die?
