Sergio SanchezWe heard a few Chinese whispers earlier today from our resident Northern monkeys here at The Transfer Tavern about Espanyol full-back Sergio Sanchez, who The Mirror say is hoping for a move to a Barclays Premier League club in the current transfer window, with Everton said to have joined the race for the defender.

It claimed the defender, who featured for Spain in the Under-21 Championships last month, has previously tried to engineer a move to Sevilla, but Manchester City are expected to table a bid of £5.1million, the price of Sanchez’s release clause, to prise him away from the Barcelona club who are keen to sell to bolster their transfer kitty.

However another Premiership club has joined the chase with the tabloid reporting that the Toffees are hoping to join City, Sevilla and Valencia for the player’s signature.

So was it water, wine, whisky or white spirit at the root of this one? Have David Moyes’ side really joined the hunt for the young Spanish defender? Should this rumour Fly or Die?
