Everton To End Unsettled Ledley’s Cardiff Deadlock?
One of the murmurs heard at chucking out time at The Transfer Tavern last night from Martin Blackburn at The Sun, who was telling people that Everton “are set to end the deadlock” between “unsettled” Joe Ledley and Championship side Cardiff City.
Martin hovering out the front telling anyone passing by that the 22-year-old Welsh International “says he has not been offered a new deal” at the Bluebirds, but that Cardiff “insist they are ready” to hold talks on a new contract.
The tabloid writer claiming that Cardiff “bosses are determined” that midfielder Ledley “will not walk away for nothing next year” from the Bluebirds.
City chairman Peter Ridsdale is quoted as saying “We’re a bit puzzled by Joe’s attitude.”
“We’re happy to give him a new deal, which would include a pay rise and a get-out clause should a Premier League club come in for him. He would be in a win-win situation.”
Blackburn saying that Toffees manager David Moyes “is a fan” of Ledley, but the Premier League club will “delay” any offer to bring the midfielder to Goodison Park to “knock down” the fee, with City to “hold out for £5million this time”, having “turned down” a £6milion bid by Stoke last summer.
So what had Martin been getting served to tell this tale? Is Ledley set for a £5milion switch to Merseyside this summer? Should this rumour Fly or Die?
