Christopher SambaJust heard a whisper outside the toilets in The Transfer Tavern from The Sun, who say Christopher Samba “has put” Premier League rivals Manchester City “on red alert” after the defender refused “to pledge his future” to Blackburn.

The tabloid claiming that Citizens manager Mark Hughes “tried to sign” 25-year-old Samba “last summer” after bringing the Republic of Congo International to the Premiership in 2007.

It said that the former Hertha Berlin player has “also been linked” with Everton and West Ham and has now “left himself open” for a move away from Ewood Park.

“I am still at Blackburn so I can’t comment. Whoever wants me will need to talk to Rovers. I’m calm and waiting,” Samba is quoted as saying by The Sun.

So what sort of beverage and just how many caused The Sun to write this? Is Hughes really on red alert after the Rovers defender’s comments? Should this rumour Fly or Die?
