250px-ryan-babel-6Tottenham are considering a swap deal with Liverpool involving and according to the Daily Express. Both players are known to be profoundly unhappy at their respective clubs and a deal may suit both sides.

27-year-old Pavlyuchenko has struggled to settle at Spurs since his £14million move from Spartak Moscow and seems set to leave the club in January with Roma, Spartak and Arsenal supposedly interested. 22-year-old Babel arrived at Liverpool and despite early promise, he has failed to live up to his hype. He has fallen behind Albert Riera, Yossi Benayoun and Dirk Kuyt in the pecking order and recently expressed a desire to leave if first-team opportunities were not forthcoming.

Liverpool’s interest in the Russian is fairly new but they are known to be seeking a striker in light of Torres’ fitness problems. The Reds currently only have David N’Gog as back-up and he is not seen as strong enough to lead the line on his own despite recent impressive showings. Pavlyuchenko is a tall, athletic player who the Reds feel could do a good job when Torres is out of action.

It is unclear if would welcome a move to Spurs as he will struggle to challenge Lennon, Modric and Kranjcar for a place in the side. He is seeking regular first-team football with on eye on the World Cup. There has not been strong interest from other clubs so Babel may have little choice in the matter, but Pavlyuchenko appears to have his pick of destinations.
