Countdown to the start of the next transfer window:

Everton’s Donovan – A Good Gamble

You arrive from LA Galaxy, you go to on loan, it is your first month at the club and you finish your first month as the club’s player of the month. Not bad is it? That is what Landon Donovan experienced in January when he arrived on loan from the States.

In Donovan’s short start at  so far he has made quite an impact on the fans and manager is clearly impressed with him.

“From what I have seen of him his football’s simple, he’s quick, he’s lively and he’s intelligent.”

In the matches he has taken part in have had wins over , and Manchester United, along with a performance where he really shone against in the Europa League. He must have something about him if he has made an impact against the teams mentioned.

All in all, it would be unfair and presumptuous to start making judgments about Donovan when it has only been two months in to a loan spell. If were looking to snap up the American international on a permanent basis then that is where the problem occurs. Moyes has expressed that this is unlikely to happen. He stated: “I think Landon would like to stay but at the moment it probably looks as if not. I wouldn’t want to have any disrespect to his club or the contract he has over there.”

Seeing as a move could be problematic, would it be possible for Donovan to ‘do a Beckham’? If something can be generated from ’s point of view then he could play for two clubs at the same time. Just as David Beckham goes off to , Donovan’s best solution could be arriving at during the off-season in America.

Donovan might be playing in the MLS which has been much talked about since Mr. Beckham arrived there, but Donovan looks equipped for the blood and thunder of English football. His image seems like he is that California kid you associate with reality TV shows but the way he plays the game sets him apart as someone ready for the demands of the Premier League. His energy is seen as vital, along with his experience and technical attributes. Just like a lot of American sportsman, he looks naturally athletic.

Should wish to really push for his signing, even though Moyes seems unsure, on a permanent basis then it would be hard to see LA Galaxy resist. He has fitted in straight away and previous players coming across the Atlantic have made a name for themselves in the .
