Can This Spurs Failure Rekindle His Career?

'Operator, this is the call of the wild'
Kevin-Prince Boateng is that rare thing. A footballer who had a good 2010 World Cup.
The Prince was unfortunately another one of the White Hart Lane nearly men. A player who promised lots, looked the part but failed to deliver on so many levels… A move to Portsmouth showed some signs of genuine improvement. But his performances in the World Cup were excellent. He looked sharp. He looked …worth buying!
Now his agent has revealed (these sharks do more revealing in a month of horse trading than Paul Daniels did in 3 TV series) that there is not only a hiccupping interest with Serie A side Genoa, but perhaps as many as three Premiership clubs.
“A few days ago I heard that Liverpool and Everton were keen, and also Beşiktaş.Today I have read that Stoke are interested, but I know nothing about that.“
“Until a few days ago there was constant dialogue and everything seemed to be coming towards a conclusion, although Portsmouth were still asking for more.
“But since then everything has reached deadlock. I don’t think everything is over, because no-one has told me that, so I suppose the interest is still there.”
“We will have to wait and see what happens now over the coming days.”
“The market is slow right now, even if there are a lot of clubs interested in the player.
Boateng is an undoubtedly a talented playerand I would argue he’s one well worth another Premiership side having another go with. Of all the sides touted, it’s Everton I could realistically see him making the best impact in. Liverpool cannot afford to take any gambles this season. Stoke it has to be said, may fail to offer the player the bright lights he’s probably searching for.

After seeing his ‘performances’ with Spurs it was fairly evident for all to see why he was allowed to leave. The only mystery was how we managed to get the fee quoted for him? Having said that for Portsmouth he seemed a different player entirely and his displays for Ghana were better than anything he produced for Spurs. Bit of a conundrum all in all, still think we we right to sell him, but managers are paid to judge a players ability both in the signing and selling, so was Comolli right after all?
I remember him coming on against Arsenal a couple of years ago, complete liability for us just gave away free kick after free kick, God knows what they said to him…………. nutter!. we lost 2-1
However I agree, he did well for Ghana, his best kick was against Ballack though in the Cup final.
he wouldn’t get anywhere near Everton’s midfield if Piennar and Arteta stay
Just love that picture of him. Is that a professional footballer, or a member of N-Dubz?
The point that so many fail (or refuse) to see about KPB, while at Spurs, is that eh was played woefully out of position. He is an attacking midfielder who has admitted publicly that he really can’t tackle for toffee. And yeet he was played as a defensive midfielder at White Hart Lane, and then judged as useless because he miss-timed tackles.
I’d like to comment on this but got distracted by the pics of the lovely lady below the article…………..
Sean – that point is well documented, but I would hardly call a midfielder playing in ‘midfield’ ‘woefully’ out of position… But it is not an excuse. Look at O’Hara – who managed to get a place in the Spurs team ahead of Boateng. O’Hara will play centre midfield, left-back, left midifeld. Even when O’Hara is used defensively, he gets forward, has shots and scored 5 goals for us. Boateng obviously had (or has) an attitude issue which rubbed managers the wrong way (even his own half-brother). Don’t get me wrong – I wish him well, and he DID have a good tournament – but some players would never have made it at Spurs even if we played them in their favourite positions. I would say that he was unlucky that he was a Comoli signing, where players were signed regardless of a strategy of how they would fit into the team. Ballack himself was on the end of one of Boateng’s mis-timed tackles…
