£115m And For What? No Wonder John Henry Is Nervous

Jose Enrique. Luis Suarez. Andy Carroll. Jordan Henderson. Sebastian Coates. Stewart Downing. Charlie Adam. Craig Bellamy. Doni.
These are the nine players to have joined Liverpool since Kenny Dalglish returned to Liverpool last January. The cost? Approximately £115 million.
Let’s start with most expensive, Andy Carroll. £35 million. And for what? People say he’s improving, he’s trying hard, and he’s getting in the right areas. Well, I’m not buying it.
For the money spent on him, you’d expect him to be doing all of these things, oh, and scoring goals. Twenty-two appearances in the Premier league this season has yielded three goals and one assist. Those are the statistics. Tragic reading.
Then there’s Jordan Henderson, seen as ‘one for the future’. £20 million pounds for Henderson. Are you serious? He’s done absolutely nothing to live up to this price tag so far, the twenty-one year old only managing to produce a string of lethargic and uninspiring performances.
I’ll move onto Stewart Downing. Aston Villa’s player of the year last year, the England international has been in scintillating form for The Reds this season. Zero goals and zero assists in nineteen Premier League starts shows Kenny has pulled off yet another masterstroke.
How could I forget Luis Suarez? After spending almost £23 million on a man who has single handedly tarnished his clubs reputation, a man couldn’t be faulted for admitting he’s made a slight error.
Not Kenny though. Taking siege mentality to a new level, Kenny maintains Suarez’s innocence, saying he ‘should never have been away’, following his return from an eight match ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra. Smooth. On the pitch he’s undoubtedly talented, but is a return of five goals in nineteen games really that impressive?
Bringing Charlie Adam in for £5 million is one of Kenny’s successes. Whilst he hasn’t reached the heights he did at Blackpool, Adam is a quality player who has put in some impressive performances.
Another one of Kenny’s better pieces of business was bringing in Jose Enrique. The left-back has been consistent throughout the season and at £5 million, he has been worth every penny.
In a twist of bitter irony, Kenny’s best signing is one he brought in for nothing. Craig Bellamy has been outstanding this season. At 32, the fiery Welsh forward still has the beating of most defenders, and with six goals and two assists, Bellamy has proved he can still compete at the top level. The Anfield crowd have really warmed to him, the passion he shows on the pitch really striking a chord with the Liverpool faithful.
The remaining two signings, Doni and Sebastian Coates, have yet to make their Premier League debuts.
So, while I’ll admit Bellamy, Adam and Enrique were good signings, the performances of Downing, Carroll and Henderson have shown them to be a downright waste of money so far. As for Suarez, he really hasn’t been worth the trouble.

Transfer Rumours 24/7

Wow! No-one’s ever talked about Kenny’s transfers before. Mind mind is blown

The worst manager I have ever seen

I don’t agree completely. Downing so far has not lived up. I don’t have any problem with Henderson, he has performed well in most games. Carroll didn’t set the price, but has now seemed to have got his head in the right place, so let him complete the season before committing him to the stocks. Adam, Enrique, Bellamy have been excellent signings.
Luis has made mistakes, definitely but I hope we can somehow keep him and add another couple of players with his talent.
Coates has looked good so far, he has had a couple of wobbles, but Defo one for the future. Doni hasn’t had a chance yet, but looks a good keeper.
Now please go and jump on another band wagon or off a cliff, whichever is nearer!

Not sure what Henderson you watching.Doesnt tackle,no assist runs around doing nothing and oh…how many goals. Also employed on the right where he is anonymous.Gives the ball away – KD and Commoli bought average and our position warrants the players we have.Newcastle 4 clear on us and Norwhich 4 behind us….Norwhich ? oh by the way are you watching Sunderlands progress…How much did these clubs spend. And lets not talk about tactics and formation – KD great player..as a coach bordering on the mediocre

R u serious, £115M turnover £35M net to completely revamp the squad. A squad that has Knocked Man Utd, Man City, and Chelsea out of the FA and Carling Cup. Despite missing Gerrard for 80% of the season and only 4 points off the 4th spot. Wembley here we come.

& 4 points off place. Carling Cup finalists & still in F.A. Cup! Player of last season (Lucas) not available, Gerrard out half of the season, Suarez missing for (a ridiculous) 8 games. Crisis, what crisis?

If you and some the posters on here had a brain cell (not judgestevep or jeff) it would probably die of loneliness – judge Dalglish and signings at the end of the season..and wtf is some gormless THFC moron doing posting on LFC site – must be homework night…

Sir Whiskey nose used to buy players on a weekly basis given half a chance, whoever had a good game would find himself subject of a bid by manure, remember the Wallis brothers all 95 of them.
Transfer Tavern I guess stands for brainless gets who write any old crap. LFC already in a final which is more than the current top six teams put together. Write something interesting like how Bale wants to go to Man City.
