£35M Man Targeted | Arsene’s Scout Blabs To Portuguese Media

After Arsenal’s 4-0 humbling humiliation at the hands of AC Milan, it appears that Arsene Wenger may finally be willingly to admit defeat in his footballing philosophy of attempting to bring the best out of unheralded players.
This is suggested by the Daily Mirror’s claim that Arsenal have been keeping close tabs on Benfica’s £35 million rated Nicolas Gaitan.
Former Gunners player and current scout Gilles Grimandi has reportedly told the Portuguese media that Arsenal are in the market for the Argentine winger.
The Benfica midfielder would not come cheaply as both Manchester clubs are believed to be interested in Gaitan, who has made 6 appearances for the Argentina national team. If Arsenal were to complete the coup they would have to dramatically break their previous transfer record of £15.8 million spent on Samir Nasri almost 4 years ago.
However if anything was ever going to convince Arsene Wenger of the need to invest in his side, it would surely be events in Milan last Wednesday.
If the Gunner’s interest in Gaitan is genuine they may struggle to convince the player to move to London ahead of Manchester. As the perception of Arsenal as a club unable to keep hold of their best players continues to escalate, as rumours around star man Robin Van Persie’s future refuse to go away, the Argentine midfielder appears more likely to chose to join one of the sides locked in battle for the Premiership title rather than a side for whom Champions league football is no longer guaranteed.

If we are going to spend big on a player, make it Hazard or Gotze for 25-30 mil.
Then spend 15 mil on Podolski and 10 mil or vertonghen. Sorted.

You should know a shambles when you see one supporting Totteringham, you’ve had plenty of practice. How many years is it since you won the league? Before we had colour television I think, that’s probably why your team plays in black and white!

That 55 million is not enough…the defence is in such disarray that they probably need to spend all of that dough on new defenders.. Good players dont come cheap and fans are tired of the cheapskate board and manger’s weak no-name brand purchases

Spot on Luke!
Vertonghen to cover/challenge any defensive position, including Song in DM.
Hazard/Gotze as a much needed playmaker.
Podolski to compliment/cover RVP.
IF we can keep our best players fit (something which hasn’t happened for years, RVP/Vermaelen/Wilshere/Sagna etc), our current squad with those additions would put us at the forefront of challenging for all honours next season.
