Eden Hazard Would Be Just Perfect For Spurs

Monday’s goalless draw with Liverpool revealed an area of weakness in ’s squad. With and Jermain Defoe sidelined, Tottenham had to change formation, and it didn’t work.

and were drafted in, and whilst they both had decent games, they lacked a creative spark. Tottenham were on the backfoot for the whole game, and bar ’s one-on-one miss, they hardly got a shot off.

When it came to a Plan B, there wasn’t much of a choice. Tottenham’s substitute’s bench included the likes of Bongani Khumalo, Massimo Luongo and . Exactly. As it was, assistant manager brought on a 33 year-old and youngster , both to little effect.

With Sandro and out injured, it’s hard to see why Redknapp let Steven Pienaar leave on loan, judging by the Spurs bench on Monday.

Anyway, I need to get to the point. It’s a near certainty that Tottenham are going to be playing Champions League football next season, and one man who would no doubt aid them in their search for European glory is that much discussed young Belgian, .

After having been consistently linked with many of England’s top clubs, Hazard announced last week that he would be leaving Lille, with his preferred destination being England (Metro).

Hazard is exactly the type of player who would excel in a squad such as Tottenham’s. The interplay between Bale, Modric and van der Vaart has been key to Spurs’s success this season, and it wouldn’t be difficult to imagine Hazard complementing the trio perfectly.

Hazard can play either on the wing or as an attacking midfielder, therefore he could be used in conjunction with, or instead of van der Vaart, who still doesn’t seem to be able to last 90 minutes.

There’s no doubt Scott Parker needs to be in the starting eleven. The 31 year-old has mastered his role as the battling defensive midfielder to perfection, and has been nothing short of outstanding this year.

If Tottenham opted for playing the lone striker, which they have done many a time this season, Hazard could be deployed on the right wing, Bale on the left, Modric and van der Vaart in the centre, with Parker holding. That quartet oozes creative genius, and the very idea that it could happen is almost too much for me.

Erm…We changed formation and it worked! We held our own, were not outplayed, and had a couple of good chances. You think we should have done more? Well Liverpool are UNBEATEN at home. Liverpool have conceded only 8 goals at home this season. They welcomed Gerrard and Suarez back. We left VDV, Lennon, Defoe, Hudd, Kaboul AND Sandro AND Redknapp back. That is why our bench was light. The real reason why you want Hazard is because you like the player! Nothing wrong in that…

It is obvious Levy is making plans for life post Redknapp, and the sheer nature of the loans and transfer exits tells me a large war chest is being amassed for a Mourinho type replacement.

Let’s face it Gomes is going and even though brilliant it is worth mentioning that Freidel and Cudicini are in their twilight years.. In defence we have Corluka and Bassong on loan, and King & Gallas seem to be close to the end of their careers. In midfield we have Pienaar, Jenas, Dos Santos & Bentley that are all surplus to requirements, and Krancjar, Huddlestone and Livermore look like squad players at best. We have sold Keane, Crouch and Pavlyuchenko and now only Defoe remains as a permanent contracted striker. Abebayor, Nelson & Saha all brought in for season long loans, and the rest of our squad on loan to other clubs.

Harry Redknapp will either be the new England Manager or doing some time at Her Majesty’s pleasure. Either way I believe Mourinho will be his replacement, and the squad is perfectly placed for massive change. Here are my suggestions for life post Redknapp:

    GK – Vorm & Affelay
    LB – Coentrao & Ekotto
    CB – Hummels & Kaboul
    CB – Vertonghen & Dawson
    RB – Walker & Corluka
LM – Bale & Di Maria
    CM – Modric & Huddlestone
    CM – Parker & Sandro
    RM – Hazard & Lennon
    CF – Damiao & Defoe
CF – Tevez & Van Der Vaart

This squad can play 3-5-2, 4-4-1-1, 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 all providing depth to compete on all fronts. The expectation will be greater than before and it is time to move on past King, Gallas, Freidel and Cudicini and also refrain from mediocrity like Bentley, Jenas, Pienaar and Bassong. Massive clear out coming and Mourinho steering Spurs to glory very soon.
