Is Vieira Even More Paranoid Than Dalglish?

Manchester City’s Executive believes there could be more to their bad luck with officials.

has stated his belief that there could be a conspiracy theory afoot, as the pressure mounts in the title race.

The Daily Star reveals the former Arsenal maestro thinks the league leaders have been given a raw deal by , with both and Mario Ballotelli having been banned for four games recently, whilst Gareth Barry was shown a red against Liverpool.

is known to be seething at events over the past few weeks, and Vieira feels City’s rivals have been treated rather more leniently.

The Frenchman moaned ,“Frank Lampard’s recent tackle looked dangerous compared to Vincent’s, while Peter Crouch, when he put his finger in the eye of another player, looked bad as well. You ask yourself if something is wrong here. If people don’t want us to win the league.”

It’s a sad state of affairs when a former player of the stature of Vieira’s reduces himself to such paranoid ramblings, but that seems to be the case here.

Whilst Vincent Kompany’s dismissal was no doubt one of the shockers of the season, the constant bemoaning of the treatment of is baffling. The Italian kicked Scott Parker in the head, an offense which could have technically led to legal action. In the end the erratic Italian got a 4 game ban and a slap on the wrist, a verdict he should be grateful for considering the harsh nature of his club captain’s identical punishment.

Throughout the years many imposing figures of title races have embarrassed themselves with irrational statements, usually leaving Sir Alex Ferguson smiling all the way to another trophy. Kevin Keegan famously broke down in front of millions in a live interview, while amidst a rare title campaign for Liverpool Rafa Benitez completely lost his mind during a mid-season press conference.

Though Vieira’s outburst is worlds away from those incidents, his words certainly won’t help at a time when City’s focus must be on the challenges that lie ahead.

In embroiling themselves in bizarre conspiracy theories and bitter accusations, the pace setters will only serve in distancing themselves from neutrals who are hoping for a new champion this year, and provide those who resent the mega-rich Mancs another reason to pray for their downfall.

So whose opinion is more valid? Patrick Viera or the author of this drivel?

United get favour after favour but that is so ingrained into English club football’s psyche that it is accepted without question. Can you imagine Webb helping City like that? We went to the bridge and lost because Clattenburg bottled the most obvious pen from 5 yards while it was 1-0.

WE GOT A RED CARD, THEY GOT TWO PENS.

City have had 6 controversial red cards this season, with similar and more dangerous challenges being called ‘good tackles’ and ignored in other games. Have you seen another red as absurd as Kompany’s? NO BECAUSE IT WAS WRONG NO MATTER WHAT THE BIASED LIARS SAY IS DANGEROUS.

Are you even listening to the Viera’s point about consistency or do you rely on the trial by media for your information?

City have conceded more penalties than any of the top four this season. United have conceded the least – AGAIN!

Conspiracy theories work well with some teams. It instills an us vs them mentality and can really bring a team together. If used on a team with a poor morale, it can be turned into an excuse at the ready.

What Patrick Viera has said is exactly what most City fans and fair minded neutrals have been thinking ever since Vincent Kompany’s red card, rather than as you suggest, the ramblings of a rival losing the plot.

I have been watching football for thirty years plus and he became the first man I have ever seen to be sent off for a perfectly clean tackle, where absolutely no contact with the other player took place whatsoever, and the ball was totally under his control.

Couple that with the highly dubious decision’s by referee’s who are supposed to be Elite, such as Clattenburg at Chelsea, Dowd at Anfield, and not to mention Mr Walton’s third Goodison Park game against City in as many years, where he failed to see three stonewall penalties this year. He also contrived to give every fifty-fifty challenge to Everton, he booked Kolarov for getting fouled and allowed Drenthe to run around like a lunatic fouling whoever stood in his path.

There is just blantant double standards going on here, and if you couple that with supposed Elite referee’s refusing to give City clear cut decisions, whilst being overly harsh on them, then something stinks.

I’m afraid when you have an FA that runs around Europe pleading the case of a petulent yob who kicks an opponnent from behind, and then fails to overturn a decision which is clearly not a red card offence, (but was a perfect opportunity to clarify the rules), then the word Biased comes to mind.

And do not get me started on Referee’s chief Mike Riley’s role in all this-the bent get!
