This is Wigan boss Roberto Martinez’s 100^th Premier League game and his team find themselves five points from safety at the bottom of the league. The Latics have continued to struggle over recent matches, with their relegation rivals Blackburn, Bolton and Q.P.R. all showing signs of life.

Martinez’s side have failed to win in any if their last 8 matches. They have also not won at the DW in their last 9 matches and only won 1 of their last 6 matches at home against Everton.

David Moyes’ men will be buoyed by the arrival of their new signings Nikica Jelavic and Steven Pienaar and after their 1 nil victory over league leaders Man City will feel confident of getting a result at the DW.

The Toffee’s have only managed to score 8 goals in their last 11 league matches which will give Wigan hope, but the Latics have not kept a clean sheet in their last 22 games. Moyes will have to consider his options after Denis Stracqualursi put in a starring performance against City but may give a debut to new man Jelavic as he seeks to improve his sides’ woeful scoring record.

Senegalese midfielder Mohamed Diame is available after returning from his country’s unsuccessful African Cup of Nations campaign.

Hugo Rodallega could be restored back into the starting line-up after starting on the bench in their last match away at Tottenham, while Antolin Alcaraz is struggling to overcome a groin injury.

Deadline-day signings Nikica Jelavic and Steven Pienaar could go straight into David Moyes’ match day squad.

None of Everton’s injured players are ready to return.
