Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou will be looking to upgrade in three key areas this summer, according to journalist Kieran Devlin.

The Lowdown: Big summer ahead

The Hoops fans may still basking in the glory of their Scottish Premiership win last season but Postecoglou will already be focusing on making new signings.

With Celtic qualifying for the Champions League in 2022/23, the squad is going to need to go up a level, in order for them to compete with some of Europe's best teams while maintaining their domestic pursuits.

It could prove to be a key summer and now a big update has been provided.

The Latest: Devlin drops new claim

Taking on Twitter on Friday, Devlin, sharing his story for The Athletic, claimed that Postecoglou won't change his style of play for the Champions League but highlighted that there was a specific focus on certain needs:

"Postecoglou won't compromise for the Champions League so it becomes a question of how successfully they play *his* way. More suitable signings and another pre-season of adaptation will help, but there are arguably three key tactical areas to improve too."

Expanding in his article, the reliable journalist says playing out from the back quickly and bravely, better recovery pace and protection in midfield as well as more aggressive and efficient pressing from the front will be the focus this summer.

The Verdict: Big summer ahead

Celtic cannot afford to rest on their laurels this summer, at a point when they can become a real force under Postecoglou, following such a great first season at Parkhead.

Devlin's update is certainly encouraging, in terms of the tactical approach, but that only highlights how important it is to have strong options throughout the squad who are capable of fulfilling these demands.

It is clear that Postecoglou will be eyeing up specific targets in who fit these roles, showing that he has a definite plan moving forward as he looks to build a real legacy at the club.
