Two more in at Palermo as Sicilians eye survival
Here at the Football Transfer Tavern we have been keeping an eye on events in Serie A that do not involve AC Milan and Mario Balotelli and Palermo have placed themselves firmly on our radar according to Goal.com.
The Sicilian side have just acquired Portuguese international Nelson on an 18-month deal after the player was released by Real Betis in December. The Serie A side have been in dire need of goals and have managed to lure six players this month alone in order to save their status in the top flight. Napoli pair Andrea Dossena and Salvatore Aronica were just some of the new blood lured to the Stadio Renzo Barbera this month.
Attacking right back Nelson is well known for netting a goal or two and given that new club Palermo have only bagged 19 goals in 22 games thus far this season they will be hoping he has brought his goal scoring boots to the struggling club.
In news that will interest the Wigan Athletic fans here at the tavern, the Italians have also confirmed the signing of Mauro Boselli on a loan deal from the DW Stadium. The striker has made 12 apperances for Roberto Martinez’ men this term and managed to score four goals for the Latics – something Palermo will be seriously hoping he can do for them.
