Highly rated by many in the Football Transfer Tavern, Goal.com’s Shane Callaghan has arrived with news that Roma playmaker Miralem Pjanic is being watched by Barcelona with view to a possible summer move.
The news came directly from the 22-year-old midfielder himself after he told EFE that the Camp Nou outfit are following his progress but made clear that any transfer will be down to his current club Roma.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina international, said: “It’s true, Barcelona are tracking me and enquired about my situation with my club,” he told EFE.
“They were watching me during the game with Fiorentina. It is Roma who have to decide, as the clubs deal with these matters.
“Barcelona are a team everyone would like to play for and it is an honour that they are interested in me.”
Since arriving in Italy in 2011, the classy midfielder has become one of the capital club’s key players with some excellent displays and it’s clear to why Barca would be sniffing around such a talented player.
However Roma will be desperate to keep the former Lyon man, whose contract in Rome runs until June 2015, and will possess a large transfer fee if the Spanish side make their interest official.
