Real Madrid bring in new goalkeeper
Real Madrid fans here at the Football Transfer Tavern are used to seeing their team finish with nine men- but are not to familiar with seeing their regular stopper Iker Casillas on the sidelines with injury. Marca have claimed the club have now found a solution to this issue.
It seemed as though the season could not get any worse for Los Blancos yet now they face Barcelona three times and Manchester United twice in the coming two months – all without Iker Casillas who has broken his thumb and is now out for 12 weeks.
Despite Jose Mourinho claiming earlier in the season that Antonio Adan was in better form than Iker, ‘panic’ is not the word for the coaching staff and fans currently, and the club have signed former keeper Diego Lopez from Sevilla.
The keeper is now 31 and cost 3.5 million euros. Lopez of course started his career at the club before moving to Villarreal and then Sevilla and will now battle it out for the number one shirt with Adan.
Clearly this latest blow for Mourinho’s men will only convince fans further that La Decima is not possible this season, but with Cristiano Ronaldo still in the ranks, anything is possible.
