The German international is known to be a very quiet and shy individual, choosing to stay out of the media glare, yet he has commented on his future in an interview with Bild.
He claimed: “Madrid is a fantastic city, I’m really happy here. I know the club has great confidence in me and I have many friends here like Sergio Ramos and Benzema. I want to play here for many more years yet. I’d like to end my career at Real Madrid.”
Of course Ozil’s friendship with Sergio Ramos has been highly publicised with Ramos wearing Ozil’s shirt under his in a show of defiance at the midfielder being dropped, yet Ozil claims his relationship with Jose Mourinho is good. He noted: “Mourinho knows what I’m capable of and we talk a lot. He is straightforward and honest, I trust Mourinho and I want to pay him back by playing well. I’ve always wanted to train with Mourinho, even before I came to Real Madrid.”
Luckily for Ozil the club seem to agree and are happy with the player’s progress since arriving from his native Germany and Werder Bremen in 2010. The comments from the player may go some way in steadying a shaky ship this season, although Madrid capitalised on a rare Barcelona slip up this weekend just gone as Los Blancos thumped Valencia 5-0 at the Mestalla.
