Here in the Football Transfer Tavern we are shaking our heads at the lastest report in Marca surrounding the future of the seemingly wantaway Real Madrid midfielder Kaka.

Just yesterday we were discussing the fact that the player was willing to do anything in his power to force a move away from the club and now it seems Real are testing the parameters.

Marca rather sensationally claim that the Spanish giants are asking for 25 million euros in exchange for Kaka. Now as our landlord rightly points out, a few years ago that would have been a steal. Now however, it is quite frankly daylight robbery considering his dramatic dip in form. Imagine if Chelsea slapped a £30 million price tag on Torres – the media in England would have a field day, so quite why Real Madrid have done this is debatable. Florentino Perez claimed that even at 25 million, “Kaka has already paid for himself.” Quite what that means remains in question however.

Of course the club could genuinely want to keep the player, but reasons to justify this decision considering his wages and lack of performances seems unlikely. After his recent sending off in La Liga, Jose Mourinho is not in the best of moods with the Brazilian and could be prepared to cast him out into the cold.

Of course AC Milan are amongst the favourites to land Kaka and LA Galaxy had been mooted as a potential alternative. However, the MLS club claim: “You don’t pay those prices in MLS, so we’re pulling out.”

Where next for Kaka? Vote in our polls below.
