Punters at the Football Transfer Tavern have barely had time to finish their last pint before yet another bit of gossip surfaces aboutReal Madrid. Just as we had finished speculating about the future of Kaka, yet another nail in the 30-year-old’s coffin arises.
Acoording to El Confidencial, Los Blancos wish to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze who is under contract with the German Champions until 2016. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez however has declared this no problem and with manager Jose Mourinho presenting the boss with a list of targets including Jack Wilshere and Radamel Falcao, it suggests that the club are attempting to go all out in the January window and on Perez’ past behaviour, it would not come as a surprise to the Spanish public if at least one of the aforementioned moves came off.
Gotze is a tender 20 years of age but is already regarded as one of the hottest properties in world football, and even has a £30 million release clause in his contract – a fee that in addition to wages and image rights would place a hefty price on the player’s head – potentially narrowing down the list of suitors.
It may seem farfetched to suggest that Real Madrid would look to land such players given their already talented squad yet they are controlled by a man who created the Galacticos so never say never!
