Here at the Football Transfer Tavern we thought that Real Madrid were interested in landing Atletico forward Radamel Falcao yet today Marca claim it is another forward they are circling around.

The paper claims that Edinson Cavani is actually in talks with the Spanish giants and according to Tuttosport, is set to join them in the summer. We have seen much speculation linking Mario Balotelli to Napoli and perhaps this is why.

It has long been mooted that Cavani would make a move in the summer, and it looks like the Uruguayan could well be heading to Spain with his agent in Madrid for talks. The forward has been prolific since joining Napoli and has one of the best strike rates around, netting 16 goals in 16 games this season already.

The forward has proven pedigree in Europe and impressed against Chelsea in the Champions League knockout round last term. Cavani has also won the Copa America with Uruguay in 2011 making La Celeste the most successful team in the competition’s history with 15 victories. That’s one ahead of Lionel Messi’s Argentina.

Do you think Cavani could be a Real Madrid hero? Vote in our polls below.

All of the two players (falcao and Edinson Cavani) are good enough for Real Madrid but any one we have is going to be a good forward.
