We talk about Wesley Sneijder so much here at the Football Transfer Tavern that we are thinking of buying a cardboard cut out of him, and today Gazzetta Dello Sport report that Massimo Moratti has had it with the player.
Of course being asked day in, day out about the same player and the same issues would wind up any manager – just ask Roberto Mancini – yet Massimo Moratti has suffered more than most. Blame who you will over the player’s contract situation , but the saga has to end at some point, and the club maybe wishing it is sooner rather than later.
Inter have let Sneijder rot in the stands since mid-September after the player refused to take a wage cut and are desperately trying to offload him. For his part, the Dutchman has made attempts to move with his wife even helping aid the process. It did for a time seem that the midfielder would be joining Galatasaray, yet now that has stalled.
When asked about the situation, Moratti stated he felt that: “It would be a much more professional decision on his part were he to make his mind up before the end of the day.” Wishful thinking on his part we suspect but it seems that a move before the end of the window is inevitable – sadly for Moratti there are a fair few more days before the window is closed.
