Here at the Football Transfer Tavern we try our best to cheer up fans and after hearing that Gazzetta Dello Sport have claimed that Gianluigi Buffon has pledged to play on for another three years, our Juventus fans feel we have done just that.

The keeper who may claim he is still the best in the world is now 34-years-old and there had been doubts raised over how long he would stay at the Italian giants.

Buffon however has claimed that he has plenty more left to give – and lets face it, the age of 34 in Serie A is like 24 anywhere else! The keeper stuck by the club during their season in relegation wilderness and is loved by the fans and players alike.

The Italian international stated that: “I do not consider myself old but mature, and I know where I can go.” He also claimed that: “I have three more years at the highest level.” That will of course be music to the ears of Juventus fans, who know that Buffon was a key part of their title winning season and indeed their last gasp progress in the Champions League. Buffon also heaped praise on Lionel Messi who seems like everyone’s favourite player these days, calling him “almost illegal.”

Do you think Buffon can keep going for the foreseeable future? Vote in our polls below.
