Veteran striker poised for Juventus switch
There have been a few whispers in the Football Transfer Tavern regarding a possible Premier League return for Nicolas Anelka, although Joe Wright of Goal.com has stopped by to reveal where the veteran striker is most likely to end up.
Juventus have reportedly reached an agreement with Shanghai Shenhua to sign the former Chelsea man, who at 33-years-old has found himself attracting interest from Premier League clubs, with Harry Redknapp at QPR also thought to be especially keen.
Juventus have made no secret of their desire to sign a new striker, and the fans were boosted by the news announced on Thursday that the club have reached a deal to sign Fernando Llorente from Athletic Bilbao, although the highly rated Spaniard will not be joining until the summer.
The Old Lady have also attempted to sign Anelka’s team mate Didier Drogba, although it appears the deal for Anelka is far more straight forward.
The former Chelsea, Arsenal and Bolton Wanderers man has agreed a deal worth €600,000, excluding bonuses, with an option to extend his stay by a further year included in the terms of the contract.
Juventus are hoping to push the deal through soon, as they look to avoid being left short of strikers. The club are set to let Italian striker Fabio Quagliarella join Fiorentina on loan.
