Leeds United have ‘high hopes’ for young winger Crysencio Summerville, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Lowdown: New deal

The Whites signed Summerville back in 2020 from Feyenoord, paying the Dutch side £1.35m. Since then, the 20-year-old has made 13 senior appearances at Elland Road, four of which have come during the current campaign.

Summerville penned a new four-year deal with the club back in August and has taken the number 10 shirt in Yorkshire after Raphinha joined Barcelona.

The Latest: O’Rourke’s comments

O’Rourke, talking to The Transfer Tavern, said that he knows the Whites ‘have high hopes for Summerville in the future’ and challenged the forward to break into Jesse Marsch’s starting XI.

“It'll be up to him to see if he can impress Jesse Marsch and possibly play his way into his starting line up on a regular basis.

“I know Leeds have high hopes for Summerville in the future.”

The Verdict: U21s absence a positive sign?

Summerville is yet to miss a Premier League match-day squad this season and was left out of the U21s side that beat Tranmere Rovers in the EFL Trophy in the week.

That could well be a telling sign in regards to how Leeds view the wide forward, potentially now considering him a fully-fledged first-team player.

He could well be in line for a first Premier League start of the season against Crystal Palace this weekend as Marsch is without the suspended Luis Sinisterra, and hopefully, he’ll make an impact as the season goes on.
