Tottenham fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern are still catching their breath after a transfer window like none other in the club’s history.
The overriding feeling at White Hart Lane is that the club have done some excellent business, despite the heartbreaking departure of Gareth Bale – although the £86 million the club received for his services from Real Madrid softened the blow somewhat.
The likes of Nacer Chadli, Christian Eriksen, Vlad Chiriches, and Etienne Capoue are all excellent signings, whilst the club broke their transfer record on three separate occasions to bring in Paulinho, Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela.
It is perhaps Lamela who has attracted the most attention. The Argentine was the final record breaker to enter White Hart Lane, arriving from Roma for £30 million, and tasked with being the direct replacement for Gareth Bale.
Immediate comparisons have been drawn simply due to the players position, and his age at just 23-years-old. With a £30 million price tag on his head and the task of replacing the fans favourite and the Premier League’s best player last season, you could forgive Lamela for feeling a certain degree of pressure.
It would be unfair to say at this stage whether Lamela will go on to emulate Bale during his time at White Hart Lane, but here we have come up with five reasons why we believe the Argentine will be an instant hit at White Hart Lane.
