Arsenal love to make their supporters suffer it seems.
After a summer of frustration in the transfer market, everything was forgiven and forgotten on deadline day – and it only cost £42.5 million.
The 1-3 home defeat to Aston Villa a month ago set the alarm bells ringing around the Emirates Stadium. The squad looked threadbare, and the performance left a lot of questions being asked.
Since that day however, things could arguably not have gone any better for the Gunners.
Three consecutive Premier League victories have propelled Arsene Wenger’s men to second place in the table, whilst also negotiating a tricky Champions League qualifying tie with Turkish giants Fernabahce with ease.
Add to this the incomings of Mesut Ozil, Mathieu Flamini and goalkeeper Emilio Viviano, and everything appears rosy in the Arsenal garden.
Perhaps the one area that is still lacking is the striking department however. The form of Olivier Giroud so far this season has massively papered over the cracks, but should the Frenchman get injured, Arsenal may struggle.
Both Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski have the ability to play up front, but the only other out and out strikers on the clubs books include Park Chu-Young, 18-year-old Yaya Sanago and um… Nicklas Bendtner.
But Wenger looks to be adding reinforcements to that department shortly, despite the transfer window being closed.
The Gunners are reportedly close to tying up a deal for free agent Ciprian Marica – a Romanian international forward who has just been released by Bundesliga outfit Schalke.
But who is Arsenal’s latest target? Here we have identified 5 things you may not know about Ciprian Marica.
