A £7m Asking Price Will Ultimately Separate The Men From The Boys

West Ham’s excellent start to the season means they currently sit in European qualification position sixth, above Totteham and Arsenal. While I’m not suggesting for a moment that they will be there at the end of the season, (but stranger things have happened), Big Sam’s team have battled their way to a string of good results, including an away win at Newcastle last weekend. This has led to some speculation over one their star performers.

Mohamed Diame only arrived at West Ham this summer from Wigan Athletic but he is reportedly the subject of interest from Premier League rivals Fulham and Everton. He has a physical presence in the centre of midfield and has good passing ability, and reads the game well enough to protect his defence.

After a call up to the senior Senegal squad, Diame’s stock does appear to rising but his £7 million asking price seems a little steep. Neither Fulham nor Everton have money to burn but they do both have defensive issues. Everton have conceded 9 goals in their last six fixtures, with no clean sheets. Fulham have conceded 8 in their last 3 league games. Perhaps both of these teams could do with a player like Diame, who can provide solid protection for an organised defence like the one Sam Allardyce has set up at West Ham.

It seems unlikely to me though that The Hammers would sell Diame half way through a season when they are playing so well, they will want to keep their momentum and their key players.

Refresh this transfer rumour!

Why would Diame won’t to leave West Ham United for a team like Fulham or Everton??

Surely Steve, you must admit that at least Everton is a more stable club with better prospects than West Ham?? West Ham just got into the PL and have had quite a good start, but please be realistic here…

Are all the West Ham fans on here clowns, or have you three been specially selected for your stand-out service to idiocy? When was the last time West Ham were as good as Everton?

Everton have lost 3 of their last 29 Premier league games. This would suggest they are champions league quality.

Everton have never played inthere Champions League, which suggests they are not Champions League quality.

What a rubbish argument. Man City had never won the premier league until they won it.

Fulham and Everton would be no step up for Diame, in fact possibly a backward step. Granted we have been a bit unstable the last few years but with BFS and the board behind the team the outlook is much more positive.

    Jon5 your a B3llend!

I’m confused. For a second there, it sounded like you were saying West Ham were a better option than either Fulham or Everton. But that can’t be fit, because that’s clearly lunacy.
