Abramovich fails at sensational striker return
The newspaper has claimed that the West London club had made an enquiry for their former Munich hero Didier Drogba but had their attempts rebuffed. The striker of course has been subject to more than a little bit of speculation surrounding his future with moves to AC Milan and Juventus strongly suggested by Sky Sports in recent weeks. It is currently thought that Drogba is set to pen a deal with Istanbul giants Galatasaray.
Quite what Rafael Bentiez makes of the situation is unclear given his less than kind assessment of the hero during his time at Liverpool, yet Chelsea fans would have forgiven Roman Abramovich somewhat if the return was actually pulled off.
Before jetting off to play in the African Cup of Nations for the Ivory Coast, Drogba was training at Chelsea in order to maintain his fitness. However, attempts to resign the prolific striker were dashed after it was been claimed by a Galatasaray official spokesman that: “Galatasaray Sports Club has begun official negotiations regarding the transfer of Ivorian professional football player Didier Drogba from FC Shanghai Shenhua.”
