Arsenal alerted to potential midfielder deal
We’ve been discussing Arsenal’s potential transfer business in the Football Transfer Tavern, with Hannah Duncan of Metro reckoning the club are keen on West Ham United midfielder Mohamed Diame.
Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has admitted the player is yet to sign a new deal at Upton Park, with Arsenal monitoring the situation closely.
“The owners have tried to renegotiate the contract, but they haven’t been successful at the moment,” the former Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers boss explained.
Diame only joined West Ham last summer, but has been a huge hit with the Hammers fans, with his all-action performances attracting attention from several Premier League clubs.
Arsenal are the most keen, as Wenger continues his search for a midfield enforcer to play alongside the likes of Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla.
North London rivals Tottenham have also emerged as an interested party, following the news that their Brazilian midfielder Sandro is set to miss the rest of the season through injury.

I would take him, as I would take anyone at the mo and maybe he has not got the flair so can be the braun … but hardly an inspiring buy.

now that diame is still available, wenger believes his job is to monitor M D’s contract talks instead of making a good bid for him. Wilshaire cannot do everything for arsenal, he needs help and diame is giving wenger time to strick but the old man can’t see. For goodness sake we don’t want a last minute flop buys this january. 7million offer is enough to land the midfield duo. I’m sure wenger can remember what MD did against arsenal. My point is, wenger should make an offer, its better if westham rejects it than him monitoring. I doubt if Big R will reject a £7m bid for MD
