You can forgive Arsenal fans for getting rather excited about their new record signing, but this advert aimed at the club’s Junior Gunners fanbase is perhaps taking it a step too far!
Gunners fans have spoken about little else since their deadline day capture of Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid and have been winding their fellow peers up at offices, school playgrounds and everywhere else around the country since!
The £42.5 million German is yet to feature for Arsenal, but has generated enough excitement to last a season, summed up by this advert for tickets for the upcoming fixture with Stoke City – which seems to have forgotten that 10 other players will feature alongside Ozil.
Understandable perhaps considering Arsenal fans endured a torrid summer in which they were the subject of constant ridicule for their failures in the transfer market.
But you get the feeling with Arsenal that it’s one extreme or another. Their opening day home defeat to Aston Villa saw outrage amongst the club’s supporters, who booed their team off the pitch and called for the manager and the board to be sacked.
Not even a month later, with four consecutive wins and the second most expensive signing for an English team of all-time completed, everything is rosy in the Arsenal garden once more – unless your name is Piers Morgan!
The turnaround in opinion is without a doubt mainly thanks to their new boggle-eyed German.
No pressure to keep the good mood going then Mesut!
