Arsenal line up duo to replace Sagna
Today in the Football Transfer Tavern we have been talking about the failure to negotiate a new contract between both Arsenal and Bacary Sagna and Goal.com have provided us with two potential replacements for the North London Club.
Arsene Wenger is believed to have a shortlist of players he feels could fill the void about to be left by the departing full back and top of that list are two players – Angel Rangel of Swansea City and Sebastien Corchia of Sochaux. We of course know Rangel only too well and it will come as no shock that the Arsenal manager has set his sights on yet another Swans player given it seems half their back four, goalkeeper and front line are on the Gunners transfer wishlist!
Corchia is more of an unknown quantity to us yet the boy has represented France all the way up to the Under-21 level for Les Bleus and will hope to break into the senior national team soon. At 22-years-old, Corchia has been on fellow Frenchman Arsene Wenger’s radar for quite some time. Given that he has played more games for his club than any other player this term, he is hardly short of experience and his reputation is beginning to proceed him. It was only a few weeks ago that North London rivals Tottenham were linked with his signature.
Rangel may be 30-years-old but Arsenal feel he could still do a job and despite having a deal until 2016 at the Liberty Stadium, should Wenger decide he is the one to succeed Sagna, a bid will be made in the summer. Perhaps as one punter quips, Wenger is looking at a three for two deal on Swansea’s stars!
