There is some breaking news arriving in the Football Transfer Tavern as it emerges that Atletico Madrid star Arda Turan has signed a new contract at the La Liga club.
However it is soon revealed by talkSPORT that this does not end the possibly of the midfielder playing in the Premier League after the 26-year-old was linked to both Arsenal and Liverpool during the summer.
Turan has emerged as a major player for Diego Simeone’s side in recent seasons, and fans of the Spanish club are pleased to see him commit himself to a new deal with the side until 2017.
He said: “I am delighted to have signed a contract extension with Atletico Madrid. I feel like I’m part of a family here,”
However, his agent has hinted that a future move to the Premier League could be still on the agenda for Turan, whose signing of a new contract has seen his buy 0ut clause with the club rise to over £30 million, which one punter suggests may simply be a ploy to create more money out of his sale if top English clubs come calling for the Turkish international again.
“Arsenal and Liverpool? A destination in the Premier League would be to the liking of the player and I can confirm there are clubs interested, like the two mentioned,” his agent said.
It was also mentioned that Manchester United and Chelsea have shown interest in Turan as well but they will now have to wait further to secure his services.
