Arsenal misfit set for move to France
A rumour has reached us in the Football Transfer Tavern concerning a possible move to France for Arsenal misfit Andrey Arshavin with Caught Offside reporting that he could be set to join Monaco before the transfer window shuts.
The Russian wide man is surplus to requirments at the Emirates Stadium after a series of lacklustre performances in recent seasons and there has been constant speculation about his departure with Premier League new boys Reading and Italian giants Lazio thought to be keen on signing the 31-year-old.
It is understood however that Claudio Ranieri’s Monaco who currently sit top of Ligue 2 have stolen a march on their rivals in a bid to land his services and aid their push for promotion back to the top flight of French football.
Despite being Arsenal’s record signing when he arrived in £15 million pound deal from Zenit St Petersburg in 2009, Arshavin has failed to live up to his price tag. A strong start in North London gave way to erratic and underwhelming performances and it would seem that his time at Arsene Wenger’s side is up as they look to build a team around young English stars such as Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

“CaughtOffSight reporting”? You believe anything emanating from that place maybe you also believe Elvis is still alive? “CaughtOffSight” just makes up stories as they go. Unless a story they quote originate from a credible source/website, they are most likely lying.

And another thing … Arsenal (ie. Wenger) ruined a previously very good player.

This makes sense to me. The Cote d’Azur has a substantial – and wealthy – Russian population. AS Monaco could capitalize on that demographic in signing Arshavin.
