Arsenal outcast could be set for German move
He may not have been the best player in the Premier League, but we all agree inside the Football Transfer Tavern that Nicklas Bendtner was an interesting character, one that according to talkSPORT won’t be making a move back to the English top flight this summer.
Bundesliga outfit Hamburg are reportedly keen to tempt the Arsenal outcast to the Imtech Arena at the end of the season, despite the fact he has endured a miserable season on loan with Juventus in Serie A.
The 25-year-old has made just ten appearances for the Turin club, and is yet to register a single goal.
And somehow his season went from bad to worse last week after admitting on Twitter to drink driving during a trip back to Copenhagen. Since then the Danish Football Association have confirmed he won’t be selected for international duty for six months as a result of the incident.
But despite all this, Hamburg are keen to give the forward another chance and are set to launch a bid in the summer.
Hamburg’s general manager, Frank Arnesen, tried to land his fellow Dane last summer before he opted to join Juve.
The forward has played for three clubs in England, leaving Arsenal on loan twice to join Birmingham City and Sunderland, with limited success both times, although he boasts an excellent record at international level, scoring 22 goals in 55 appearances for his Scandinavian nation.
