Metro kick things off nicely for us here in the Football Transfer Tavern today as they note that Arsenal have been forced to welcome back one of their fringe players, after failing to land anyone else this summer.
The club have been chasing high profile talents such as Liverpool forward Luis Suarez and also Real Madrid duo Gonzalo Higuain and also Karim Benzema, yet have failed to land any of the above, to the despair of Gunners fans.
Now Arsene Wenger has admitted Nicklas Bendtner will be staying at the club.
He noted: “The chance for Bendtner to leave now is very small. If he comes back well and gets fit, I will use him.”
Bendtner is on a whopping £52,000-a-week at the Gunners and as one of our punters quips, it is not exactly like they can afford to be paying such a huge sum per week to a player who is not only on the fringes of the squad, but who fails to deliver even when Arsene Wenger attempts to include him.
The forward spent last season on loan at Juventus and failed to deliver there and is now back training alone in London.
Given Wenger has little other option, a chance will be afforded to the confident forward once more, but as one of our punters quips, given how well the sides around Arsenal have bought this summer, bringing Bendtner back is hardly going to mean Arsenal can challenge for the title!
