Metro have a shocking story for us here in the Football Transfer Tavern today as they note that Liverpool forward Luis Suarez will refuse to apologise to the club for his recent behaviour.
The striker is willing to stand his ground and make sure that a transfer to Arsenal is pushed through this summer after deciding that Liverpool have betrayed him and feeling like the club should have honoured their promise to allow him to leave for a club in the Champions League.
After Brendan Rodgers was asked what Suarez would have to do in order to be allowed to once again train with the first team, he noted that: “Initially there will be a recognition that (there needs to be) an apology to his team-mates and the club.
“I have seen him over a period of time. I know it is not the Luis Suarez we know and I have to protect the fans and the players because they deserve more than that.”
Suarez however is determined that a move will happen and is in no mood to make good with anyone at the club.
Arsene Wenger is fully prepared to come in with another bid for the forward and as we were talking yesterday in the tavern, we noted he is prepared to make the player the highest paid Arsenal player ever on wages of £160,000 per week.
As one of our punters quips, should Wenger land the player he should be careful not to make any promises about Real Madrid coming calling, as we all know loyalty to Suarez seems to be somewhat of a foreign concept.
