Here at the Football Transfer Tavern, things are looking increasingly bleak for Real Madrid skipper Iker Casillas. Marca today adds fuel to the fire concerning the keeper’s future and have linked him to the Premier League.
Casillas has long been at war with ‘team Mendes’ and is struggling to hold down a place in the side despite having the support of the fans and unsurprisingly the Spanish press. With Real linked to David De Gea amongst others, Casillas has been making noises about his own future.
The Spanish International initially claimed that the MLS could be the ideal place to end his career, but he is now being linked with a move to Arsenal. Wenger has long been a fan of the keeper and is not concerned over Iker’s weaknesses on set pieces or in the air.
Casillas did not even vote for Cristiano Ronaldo as his first Ballon d’Or pick and failed to even acknowledge Jose Mourinho or his fellow coaches during training. The 31-year-old keeper has won everything there is to win in football and is recognised as one of the best in the world despite shaky performances this season and will not be short of takers if he does leave the club he has grown up at.
