Inter Milan prepare to fight Gunners for forward

Whilst we at the Football Transfer Tavern like uncertainty in our professional lives about as much as we enjoy the beer running out, when we hear of a footballer out of contract we love it. Fear not Arsenal fans; this time it is coveted Schalke striker Klass-Jan Huntelaar who looks set to move in January.

Smart money may have been on a move to the Premier League for the Dutchman, yet BILD report that it is in fact Italian Giants Inter Milan who are closest to signing the player this January. Inter are making a strong challenge for the Serie A title and are also through to the knockout stages in the Europa league, leading to the powers that be feeling that some additional armour up top is needed.

However in some good news for Gunners fans, L’Equipe reports that it is actually the Gunners who are set to agree a £4 million deal with the player and given the fact the same publication broke the Giroud and Cazorla moves even before the English press did, there is still some uncertainty surrounding the future of the striker who scored both home and away against the aforementioned Gunners en route to leading Schalke to the top of their Champions League group.

Where do you think the player will end up? Is it worth buying a player not eligible for the Champions League? Vote in our polls below.
