Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for the right deals this month to bolster their push for the title, but the latest news isn’t concerning the player they wished it was.

After seeing that the Gunners have recalled a midfielder from his loan spell, fans flocked around the TV in the tavern hoping to see Jack Wilshere’s name on the screen but were left disheartened with the result.

Instead, Spanish side Granada have confirmed that Arsenal have terminated Jon Toral’s loan deal on the continent, with the 21-year-old making just five appearances during his time in Spain.

Toral last featured for the La Liga strugglers in mid-December but had made just three appearances since the start of November.

The young Spaniard is unlikely to get any game time in North London though, where he still awaits his debut, as reports suggest he’ll now head north of the border to join Rangers on-loan.

Arriving at Arsenal at the same time as Hector Bellerin, the Gunners have high-hopes for Toral but he faces a stern test to force his way into a attacking-midfield role that already boasts the likes of Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Iwobi.

Our landlord believes Toral’s next loan could be make or break for the midfielder, as he turns 22 next month and needs regular football at this stage in his career.
