Arsenal fans are left frustrated with their clubs delayed transfer business once more here in the Football Transfer Tavern, with Jamie Sanderson of Metro informing us over a pint that the club are refusing to budge on their valuation of Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila.
Russian club Zenit St. Petersburg as well as Premier League strugglers QPR have both shown an interest in the French international, despite it being reported that Arsene Wenger was offered the player in a cut-price £8million deal last week – an offer he has reportedly turned down.
This will come as a major surprise to Arsenal fans given that Wenger has pursued the 22-year-old for the last two transfer windows, and the £8 million price offered is in fact half of his original valuation. Hoops boss Harry Redknapp is reportedly monitoring the situation closely and is expected to pounce with a bid of his own.
It is understood Wenger has growing concerns over the young midfielders disciplinary problems, and has therefore put any move on hold.
Despite these problems, M’Vila is one of the most highly rated young midfielders in Europe, having starred for Rennes over the past couple of seasons while featuring for Les Bleus at Euro 2012 last summer.
