We had been made aware of the rumours that Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes could be on his way out of the Camp Nou and given the reports in Marca that seems certain now.

Valdes has long felt starved of appreciation not only around Europe but even in Spain and despite winning the Zamora Trophy in Spain – far more times than Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas, he has never captured the hearts of the country like San Iker.

The keeper has been mooting the idea of a move and experience in another league for a while now and after AS ran a report claiming over three quarters of Barcelona fans would take Iker as their number one, should the latter leave Real Madrid, his threat to leave could become reality. Valdes has been linked to a host of clubs in the Premier League with The Mirror recently claiming Liverpool were interested, and now the Daily Mail are making the somewhat obvious link between Valdes and Bayern Munich.

Of course a move to Pep’s new side would leave a major question over the future of Manuel Neuer and leave a host of clubs scrambling for his signature. For his part, Valdes instructed his representatives to claim: “Victor Valdés’ agents informed FC Barcelona in a meeting earlier this afternoon of the player’s irrevocable decision not to extend his contract, meaning negotiations over his salary will not be entered into”.

Do you think Valdes could cut it in the Premier League? Vote in our polls below.
