It has been very quiet on the Aston Villa front in the Football Transfer Tavern on deadline day despite their on-field struggles however finally the Villa fans at the bar have something to cheer about as Sky Sports announce that the club have completed the signing of French defensive midfielder Yacouba Sylla from Ligue 2 outfit Clermont Foot.
The 22-year-old has chosen to sign a three-and-a-half-year contract with relegation threatened Villa despite interest from France, Spain and Italy and the promising middle man will go straight into Paul Lambert’s team for Saturday’s game against Everton
Sylla told Sky Sports that he looking is looking forward to playing in England: “I’m very excited about the prospect of playing for Aston Villa and also to be playing in the Premier League,”
“I have watched some games here on TV back in France and a player such as Cheick Tiote, who is strong and forceful, I admire his style of playing.
“The manager is building a dynamic and exciting young team here and there are players also with a lot of experience. Obviously, I know plenty about Charles N’Zogbia and it will be great to play alongside him.
The former France Under-21 international, added: “I can’t wait to fight for the club and help the club to climb the table. I’m thrilled to be part of this. Playing at Villa Park will be unbelievable. It is a huge stadium with a great history and the crowd will be incredible.”
Paul Lambert is also understood to be preparing a late bid for out-of-favour Stoke midfielder Wilson Palacios as he seeks experience to move his side away from the relegation-zone.
