Some transfer news concerning Tottenham has reached us inside the Football Transfer Tavern courtesy of Daniel Griffiths of Metro, although to many fans disappointment it does not concern a striker.
Andre Villas-Boas is reportedly considering a swap deal with Inter Milan involving full backs Benoit Assou-Ekotto and former Porto man Alvaro Pereira.
Villas-Boas worked with the Uruguayan defender during his trophy-laden spell at Porto, and also tried to sign him for £8 million during his time in charge of Chelsea.
The 27-year-old only joined Inter Milan from Porto last August in a deal worth £8m, although such is Villas-Boas’ desire to work with the player again, a deal could be done before the 11pm deadline according to sources in Italy.
Assou-Ekotto has been plagued with injury for the majority of the season, and is considered surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane should the deal for Pereira come off.
The Cameroon international has become a fans favourite at White Hart Lane, although it seems 175 appearances and just four goals later his Tottenham career may be coming to a close.
He has been at the club since 2006 after joining from French club Lens for just £3.5m.
