The Football Transfer Tavern was buzzing yesterday with speculation regarding a possible move to Bayern Munich for former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola, although today sources at talkSPORT have moved quickly to deny the rumours.
Guardiola has admitted he wants to return to coaching following a year out, and has also been linked with a move to Premier League pair Chelsea and Manchester City.
It was thought Bayern officials had made the first move by approaching Guardiola, although Bayern’s media director Markus Horwick described the claims as “complete rubbish”.
He told the Bild newspaper: “We are only talking only with Jupp Heynckes. Jupp Heynckes is our one and only person to talk to.”
The news will come as a boost to Chelsea who have made no secret of their desire to bring Guardiola to Stamford Bridge in the summer, and possibly also Manchester City, who have been quietly linked with a managerial switch of their own.
