Blues Striker Heavily Tipped For The Next Golden Boot Award

A poll carried out by GiveMeFootball.com has seen football fans across the nation tip Chelsea’s Fernando Torres to recapture his form and pip others to the Premier League golden boot next season.
A huge 38% of the 32,000 voters backed the Spaniard to beat the likes of Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie (if he’s still in England) to the title.
Torres has endured a difficult time at Chelsea since joining from Liverpool in January 2010 but has shown glimpses of the former most feared striker in the league. He recently won the golden boot at Euro 2012 and it seems fans think he will finally pick up the award which has so far eluded him by winning the Premier League golden boot.
The last Chelsea player to win the award was Blues legend Didier Drogba in 2009-10 and Nicolas Anelka picked up the award the season before.
A tally of at least 25 is most likely needed to have any chance of picking up the award which mean significant improvement on Torres’ 6 goals last season, but after scoring 3 goals at Euro 2012 despite not starting many games for spain and given the addition of creative players such as Hazard and Marin Torres’ goalscoring chances should increase meaning more goals.
Torres was picked ahead of Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney who recieved 18% of the vote. He scored 27 goals last season – although alot of these were penalties – but failed for any form during his brief European Championships.
Last seasons golden boot and player of the season award winner, Arsenal’s (for now) Robin Van Persie came in third with 16% of the vote.
Liverpools’ controversial striker Luis Suarez came in fourth securing 12% of the vote as he will surely benefit from Brendan Rodgers attacking style of play.
Man City pair Sergio Aguero and Mario Balotelli recieved 8% and 4% respectively.
What do you think?

where were the 2 newcastle lads in the poll?

Aguero scored 24 league goals in his first season in England. Judging by previous new comers to the Premiership, he will add at least another 8 this coming season. That will be a tough target for anyone to match.

Aguero scored 24 league goals in his first season in England. Judging by previous new comers to the Premiership, he will add at least another 8 this coming season. Cisee will be close to that for Newcastle as well. Can’t see past these two to be honnest.

Torres will not smell it. It is mere wishful thinking to imagine that Torres come top. His ledal finishing touch has deserted him. I think somebody is responsible for that.
