£6M Man Might Not Wow Anfield, But He’d Be A Sound Addition

With the race to sign Gylfi Sigurdsson over, Brendan Rodgers is looking ahead in the transfer window. According to the Mirror, Rodgers has already turned his gaze to Bolton’s Mark Davies, who would be available from the Championship side for about £6 million.

The 24-year-old Englishman had a good season last year with the Trotters, scoring four goals including one against Liverpool, yet his side could not escape the fate of relegation. Manager Owen Coyle is desperate to keep the young U21 international, yet with the task of cutting the clubs’ wage bill post relegation, keeping Davies may be something he cannot afford to do.

Yet as  Sigurdsson heads to White Hart Lane, Liverpool fans should not be completely disheartened if Davies is the alternative. True the English midfield player has had limited Premier League experience but then again so has Sigurdsson. The Bolton midfielder shone last season in Owen Coyle’s side and would be a good attacking option in a Liverpool midfield that lacked potency last season.

For around £6 million, Davies could be a good investment for the future and Brendan Rodgers at Anfield. Or he could be another player who has shone in the Premier League yet struggles with life at Anfield, like Jordan Henderson for example. One thing is for sure and that is that Liverpool need goals in next years campaign. With Davies, they would maintain another attacking threat to add to their roster

A move for Davies might see the 24 year old out of his depth, or he may flourish under Brendan Rodgers’ attacking using possession philosophy. Although some Kopites might not agree with the choice of personnel, choosing a player recently relegated, one has to acknowledge that he’s headed in the right direction.

Surely not, he did nothing last season, is an ok dribbler but nothing else, I don’t even get why we would be interested he doesn’t score goals, THATS WHAT WE NEED.

I completely got Sigurdsson he is lethal with either foot and has a great understanding of the game to time his runs in the box, so why not sign a similar player.

How about Dempsey or go abroad and get a goalscoring midfielder

Decent impact player from the bench but has only influenced games as a starter on a handful of occasions. We should take the 6 million and skip to the bank!

Liverpool are a joke these days, how can a club who were once so great be where they are now? Cant attract players of Siggurdsons ilk so target a player like daviea who is nowhere near the standard required for top 4…. Darker days ahead

Thisbis bad IF it’s true. The types of players we are being linked to are not going to improve the team. Would rather stick with current squad plus bring back coke and aqualani than this. It’s speculation mind you. Why can’t we go for Alan dzagoev- Willian- cristian Eriksen- Ramirez- rodriguez- Herrera- susaeta- Tello … Players with actual quality and potential?!!! We had a poor season but we are still a promising club under new guidance. Worrying
