Gary Hooper’s future has been discussed endlessly in the Football Transfer Tavern, and with the end of the transfer window fast approaching Charlie Wyett of The Sun reckons he knows where the Celtic forward is set to end up.
It is understood that Hooper is set to be one of two strikers on his way to Carrow Road, with news emerging that Norwich City are confident of tying up a deal for the Celtic striker and Leeds United forward Luciano Becchio before tomorrow evenings deadline.
Norwich boss Chris Hughton has already seen a £5 million bid for Hooper dismissed, although a third bid nearer Celtic’s valuation of the forward is likely to be accepted.
The Bhoys are likely to sell their top striker for £8m, despite them being desperate to hold on to their man for their Champions League knockout tie with Juventus next month.
Meanwhile, 29-year-old Becchio is set to make the move to the Premier League for a fee believed to be in the region of £3m.
The Argentine has been in fantastic form for Leeds this season, scoring 19 goals so far for the Elland Road-based club. He has handed in a transfer request however, and seemed set for a switch to Turkey until the Canaries made their enquiry.
The deal is likely to see Norwich forward Steve Morison go the other way, with Leeds remarkably having to pay around £1m for the 29-year-old Welsh international’s services plus Becchio.
