Daniel Sturridge’s name continues to crop up here in the Football Transfer Tavern, and Darren Lewis of the Daily Mirror has told us over a game of pool that the young striker is making some rather hefty demands if he is to leave Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool have been linked with the 22-year-old for quite some time now, and have been busy preparing a January bid. Whether the move goes ahead is now in doubt, with Sturridge demanding an incredible £80,000 a week, as well as assurances he will be played as a central striker, and not deployed on the wing in the way he has been at Chelsea.

Liverpool however feel Sturridge has done little to justify such extravagant wages, since his early season form under Andre Villas-Boas a year ago.

They are also unable to provide guarentee’s that Sturridge can play his preferred central striker role, especially considering the form of Luis Suarez. It is thought Rodgers would want to interchange him with Suarez and Raheem Sterling in his favoured 4-3-3 formation.

Is Sturridge really in a position to be making such demands? And can you see him moving to Liverpool now? Vote in our polls below.
