Chelsea and Manchester City go head-to-head in striker race
Chelsea and Manchester City fans have entered a heated debate inside the Football Transfer Tavern regarding the future of Saint Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with sources at talkSPORT reckoning the Premier League giants are set to battle it out for his signature in the summer.
Reports in France suggest City have been tracking the 23-year-old forward, who has an impressive 23 goals in 32 Ligue 1 games in France this season.
City are set for a summer clear out, with the futures of Edin Dzeko and Carlos Tevez still up in the air, as well as the future of manager Roberto Mancini.
Chelsea meanwhile are also thought to have entered the race, having sent scouts to watch the young Gabon international forward score in the 2-2 draw with Rennes. The Blues are in desperate need of a new striker in the summer, following another disappointing campaign for Fernando Torres, and Demba Ba representing their only other option.
But whether Aubameyang would be willing to move to a club currently surrounded in so much uncertainty remains to be seen.
German giants Borussia Dortmund are also thought to be interested in signing the forward as a replacement for Polish forward Robert Lewandowski, who has already said he will leave the club in the summer after refusing a new contract. He has been attracting attention from Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
